Anniversary Card Not A Valentine’s Day Card

Hello All,

Well Valentine’s Day is coming around again and I guess some one could consider the card below a Valentine’s Day Card. However since my birthday lands on February 14th I really don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day for a few reasons.

Here is Monica’s Top 5 Reason why I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day:

  1. It’s my birthday not Valentine’s Day. Card Makers had a slow sales month in February thus the day was born to pick up sales.
  2. Each time I go out on my birthday the price doubled on every restaurant, venue, and Movie Theaters.
  3. Locations are packed, good luck trying to find parking.
  4. I keep getting hearts and valentines candy rather than a Happy Birthday Card. I not one for pink shape hearts.
  5. Gifts prices go up on my Valentine’s Day, which is why I get stuck with hearts and valentine candy. It’s the only thing that’s cheap.

However I do celebrate my husband and I anniversary on February 1st which is why I have created this card below. It is also being put in Cardz Crazy RED, BLACK, & WHITE challenge. So that killed two birds with one stone. http://www.cardztv.blogspot.com/

Snow Globe Christmas Tree

Hello All,

Well we are getting ever closer to Christmas and I keep thinking about snow. Since it really doesn’t snow in California unless you drive to some snowy forsaken mountain that has more rock then snow, it really doesn’t really count.   So to cheer me up I made myself a little snow globe card.

I’m sure some of you would say that snow is overrated and it not as fun when the pipes freeze. However, something about the cold snow brings back warm memories of playing on a giant inflated tire going down a slippery and dangers hillside with my younger sister Veronica.  Trudging up that mound with a heavy tire seemed like hours just to get a few seconds of bliss of untold speed.  Hearing my little sister shriek as we hit the snow-white bank made me want to do it all over again.

Aww when life was simple!

3D Snowflake Card

Hello All,

This is not a new idea of course; we all learn how to make 3D snowflakes in grade school with construction paper and glue.  Nevertheless, just because we learn something as children doesn’t mean we shouldn’t bring out the kids in use.  So I dug out my inner kid and pulled out this lovely idea and added my own grown up touches.

Enjoy!

Elegant Ideas – Etched Glass Containers

Hello All,

Need a quick idea? Why not DIY yourself some etched glass containers. I found these cute glass containers at Ross a few weeks ago and thought they make great socking stuffers for family and friends. All you really need is some contact paper (the same stuff you line your kitchen cabinets) cut out some attractive patterns stick them on the glass and etch.

Add in whatever goodie you want in the jar and some hay string or ribbon and you’re done.

Thomas Ornament Card

Hello All,

My 2 year old son put up some ornament on our fake tree last week and after seeing him weigh down one side of it, it got me in the mood to create this. The light and green pattern was chosen after looking at my poor sad tree as it screamed “help me I’m going to fall over.” The candy cane strips pattern was chosen after he chomped down on his very first candy cane this year. After running all over the house for an hour on a sugar rush he crashed on his soft green spider blanket that we got at Wal-Mart the year before. Thus the green band that bridges both patterns together.

So sweet pea when you’re older and you read mommies post know this card was made because of you!

Naughty or Nice Penguin Gift Card

Hello Everyone,

It’s the first week of December and I can’t wait to get started to give out gift cards to friend and family. I thought I pull out my Cricut and create something festive.

Materials:

  • Cricut Machine
  • Simply Charmed – Cricut Cartridge
  • Red, Green, Black, Pink, Yellow, and white Card Stock
  • Hole Pump
  • Pattern Paper
  • White Gel Pen
  • Stapler
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Gift Card
  • Pencil

Step 1 – Card Base

Cut your green card stock at 3 7/16 x8 ½, score your card 3 ½ then form your score line score at 4 ½. Fold your card stock by doing so will give you a tri fold card with a little lip. Take your gift card and slip it between the small fold. Take your pencil and make a small mark on the edge of your gift card. Remove your gift card, take your stapler and staple about one centimeter away from your pencil mark.

Step 2 – Decorating your front

Turn your gift card holder over so the back is facing you. You should have a rectangle shape that measures 3 7/16 x 4 ½. Then take your pattern paper leaving a ¼ or 1/8 border, make sure that your staples are covered your pattern paper. Take your red card stock and punch out 3 small circles with your hole punch. Cut two 1×1 green squares, fold them in half and draw leaf pattern. Cut out your leaves and set them aside.

On page 65 of the Simply Charmed Pamphlet I cut the <Hat> on shit at 2 inches, as well as <layer2>. I found the circle where to tiny to put on the hat so I used my hole punch and punched out some white circles. I also cut out the <Penguin1 and 2> on page 66 at 3 ¼ inches. After assembling each penguin I assembled and attached the hats to the penguins.

I then printed out some labels with the words Naughty/Nice with two boxes beside each word. I cut them, rolled them on each end, and cut small triangles along the side. I then used pink ink to give it a used naughty or nice list.

Now bring all your pieces together and position them roughly where you want them. If you see that your staples are poking through your pattern paper. Take your leaves and red circles and position over the staples marks. Add your details with your white gel pen.

Step 3 – Decorating you one 1 ½ inch Flap

Take some coordinating pattern paper and cover your flap leaving a ¼ boarder or enough to cover your staples.

There you go you’re done!

Snowmen Ornaments

Hello All,

Well this is the last week of November, were all these creations I have made will be placed on our fake Christmas tree. But before I do I have one last ornament, Snowmen. No tree can be complete without Snowmen. So get your kids in on this project, have them twist different color pipe cleaners, pick out googol eyes, and some nice pompoms.

However leave the gluing to mom and dad, the last thing we need is kids gluing themselves together, or their clothing to the table. You have no idea how hard it is to get them off that thing.
