Sorry for not posting sooner, looks like I had a bad case of Mastitis, with a pinch of blood poisoning. So its save to say I was unwell, but I was able to compile a list of where I get my free SVG and Studio (aka) Silhouette Files. Just a word of advice don’t be greedy be sure to support the artiest. It never hurts to buy some of their stuff especially if its good stuff. Now the reason I am posting this is because I went to many difference sites such as Top 40, Top 50 or 100 best Silhouette site and I have to tell you a lot of their links didn’t work or where just a purchase only without any freebie available. I don’t know about you but I like to test a sample of the goodies just to see if it will work with my Silhouette or not. If it does I have no problem ordering more stuff from them.
I mean who doesn’t do a test drive before buying a car, or eating a sample of Chinese food before buying a meal? Sure sometimes we buy things out of impulse and it turn out great, but more often then not you come home and its not what you wanted.

I guess I can officially call it….. It’s now Saturday Highlights. Who am I kidding, I may get “me time” on Friday night but by the time everything is said and done it’s already Saturday.
Anyway today highlight is Burton Avenue. The site is run by Angie a mother of seven. A hard working mom if I ever did read about. Every Friday she submits free downloaded SVG files that are compressed in a zip file. You can check her out at http://burtonavenue.blogspot.com/.
This week’s SVG is a cute diner theme homage to Moms which is fitting since this Sunday is Mother’s Day! I love how she transferred it on to an apron which adds to the theme even more. So thank you Angie for providing the many images posted on a weekly bases. And with such a large family I give you major kudos for putting out on time every week.
I was inspired by her work so I made this simple Mother’s Day Card. I wanted to keep it almost drive thru kind of look.
Well it’s now Saturday morning 12:26 am to be accurate, and YouTube is taking forever to post my tutorials. This is super bad since my Friday Night Highlight is starting to become Saturday Morning. Ah well at least I’m getting it done and with no kids trying to sabotage me or call me away because they have a crayon stuck up someone’s nose, I can deal with a little lateness. Let start off with some freebies so you can duplicate my card and save yourself some hassle.
Free Polaroid Frames
If you’re looking for a pre-made Polaroid Frame check out SVGCuts – http://svgcuts.com/blog/2013/02/15/polaroid-frames-svg/ this link will take you to 3 frames that have Polaroid frames. Just download and save it to your Silhouette Studio.
If you’re looking for some ornate tags to slap on any card or mix media project then check out Birdscards – www.birdscards.com/hey-sweety this nifty crafter can really pull out the stops for every designs she does.
Dafont, dafont, dafont, I can’t say any bad thing about www.dafont.com they have what you need without the hassle. And if you want to find out how to port their files on to your desktop files check out this sweet tutorial by Sarah’s World 4 U – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGGKWSckdpo&list=PL3FAB7E9F0457FE77&index=36 this is where I found out about Dafont and how I was able to import their files.
But if you want to kick it old school like me and be a DIY’er check out my tutorials below. Thanks for stopping by don’t forget to subscribe to my blog for next week Friday Night Highlight!
To those of you that do read this blog you have noticed that I haven’t written since April. The reason for that is because I am currently pregnant, 6 month to be accurate. And it’s been super hard for me to craft do to the fact I get sick so easy and I can’t seem to be around my craft room without getting queasy.
Now I do get small moments that I can just sit and craft, but they are so few and far between. I have been hiding out more and more in the kitchen since my secondary laptop is in there, well that and the refrigerator is like right there. It would be awesome if I could show you guys the beautiful silhouette images I have made on the Silhouette Cameo. I have not needed to buy an image on the cameo in a few months because I found it was more cost effective just making it on my own.
Now if you’re new to the Silhouette Cameo and you think you need to buy a whole bunch of images just to get started your wrong. First the Cameo starts you off with 51 free images that you download from the machine itself, so you need to have your cameo connected to your laptop or desktop. Just follow the instruction on your Cameo but if your still not getting it. Christina Thomas from Creation with Christina on YouTube has a great tutorial on how to get your free images: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0ywoSEHXDc&list=PLA8CBA8C86EC46FBC
Oh I all most forgot to tell you, every Tuesday there are free images that you can download off of www.silhouetteonlinestore.com not to mention if you enter “free” in to the search and click “go” on the 2nd or 3rd page you will find at least 3 to 5 images that you need to claim. It does takes a bit of clicking through the pages but all you need to click next for free images I would do it. Well I did.
I found JustDahling tutorial – On How to Print and Cut was very easy to follow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl-91gghiYs&list=PL3FAB7E9F0457FE77&index=34
Now if you know what you’re doing and are just looking for freebies I would suggests the following: www.DaFonts.com , http://craftymamabakes.com/category/silhouette-cameo-projects/, and it never hurts to check out Pinterest to find all sorts of freebies out there: http://pinterest.com/mommadulka/all-things-silhouette-cameo/
However if you don’t know your way around your Cameo but still want some freebies check out SarahaWorld4u video on how to download what you need and set it up on your Cameo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGGKWSckdpo
